KATE MUETH

 

 

is an Actor's Equity Union member who works as an actress, director and choreographer in theatre, t.v. and independent films. Ms. Mueth is in her seventh year as founder and Artistic Director of Neo-Political Cowgirls, a not-for-profit women's dance theatre company committed to making exciting theatrical work for women, telling their stories and leading workshops for girls and women in choreographing what they care about. Newly conceived, site specific works created for NPC: ZIMA!, Voyeur, Trojan Women Redux and Wody Girtch Mama. The last two summers NPC mounted EVE, a ground-breaking immersive dance theater experience which won Dan's Papers’ "Best of the Best" award for the best event in the Hamptons, summer 2012. NPC also was honored with "Best Theater Company" for the Dan's Papers’ annual award. Ms. Mueth also founded and Artistic Directed the award-winning Mulford Rep Theater Company, an Equity summer company in East Hampton. She has enjoyed directing The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Sylvia, All in the Timing, Miss Electricity, Irma Vep and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, etc. Recent stage acting work includes Tonight at 8:30 at Guild Hall starring Blythe Danner which she also choreographed, directed by Tony Walton, Mrs. Van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank and Ann Putnum in The Crucible, both at Bay Street Theater, actor/ dancer (captain) for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center spring 2011 world premier of Monodramas, directed by Michael Counts with music by John Zorn, Molly Bloom in In the Room With Molly Bloom at the Manhattan Theatre Source and at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center (Residency Fellowship), Marjorie in The Tale of the Allergist's Wife at Mulford Rep. At the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall: U/S for the female roles in Equus starring Alec Baldwin and directed by Tony Walton, Germaine in Steve Martin’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The "Stage Manager” role in Orson Welles’ Moby Dick Rehearsed starring Peter Boyle dir. Tony Walton, Gertrude in Hamlet, Varya in The Cherry Orchard, dir. Josh Gladstone, Miss B. in Enter Laughing with Eli Wallach, dir. Lew Stadlin. She assistant directed Harris Yulin for The Glass Menagerie, starring Amy Irving also at the Drew. Other favorite roles include Lady M. in Macbeth, Miranda in The Tempest, Medea in Sexodous, May in Mudd, numerous indie flicks and stunt work on All My Children.  She has directed, choreographed, acted in or produced many plays and play readings for The John Drew Theater, Bay Street, The Neighborhood Playhouse, Shakespeare & Company, Mulford Rep, Haunted Mulford, etc.  She movement coached Tom Keneally's (Schindler's List) play Transport at New York's Irish Arts Center where she worked closely with musician/ lyricist Larry Kirwan of Black 47. Sitz and Jiggles, Ms. Mueth's newly formed sketch comedy film company just released the wonderfully ridiculous "Boys of Summer." Ms. Mueth is Founder and Co-Chair of the East Hampton Arts Council for the arts-vibrant destination town on the tip of Long Island.
